My name is Shan Zhong, I have navigated through my academic years smoothly with two Masters Degrees in computer arts and fine
arts. Currently I work for WRAL-TV (CBS affiliate)in
Raleigh, NC as the Lead Designer.
In August 1994, I came to the states from P.R.China
for graduate school. My first stop was New York City
where I stayed for about two years. It was a great place
for visiting, but I soon found out it wasn't the place
for me to live.
At the beginning of 1996, I moved to Memphis Tennessee
to pursuit my second Masters degree in Computer graphics
at Memphis
College of Art. Two years later, upon graduation,
I got a job working for WMC-TV (NBC affiliate in Memphis, TN). I worked
as an on-air news graphic designer; a paintbox artist;
a 2D&3D animator; an Avid editor; a senior Animator
and the Animation Director at WMC TV. My duties
at WMC were creating and supervising on air animations
for news and special projects for community events;
directing and editing image promos. On August 7th, 2006. I joined WRAL Team as the Lead Deisgner. Creating Animation for station's branding, and Images.
During 10 years working in broadcasting, I have been nominated
37 times for regional Emmy Awards with 7 wins. I am
the winner of 2008 Emmy Award for "Advanced Media Commercial", 2007 Emmy Award for "Graphic
Arts", 2006 Emmy Award for "Graphic
Arts", 2005 Emmy Award for "Editor
Short Form", 2005 Emmy Award for "Director
Short Form", 2005 Emmy Award for "News
Special Event", 2003 Emmy Award for "Director
PSA promo". Besides Emmys, I am also
the winner of 4 Telly Awards; 2 Aurora Awards and a
Summit Creative Award.
Besides work and hanging out with my friends, I still
do oil
painting in my spare time. Mostly, I do portraits
and landscapes on canvas in Neo-Classical and Renaissance
styles (you can see them on Galleries
page).
Classical Guitar has also been my hobby for 18 years.
(you can see and listen to my Rendition of "Romance Anonimo II" on youtube.com or Videos
page).
I currently live by myself in my townhouse in Raleigh, NC.
